Talking Customized weapons per account not per character

I think this is a very simple sugestion, it would be nice to us pvpers who want to look nice and have more than one war, but cant afford getting a lot of perfect weapons.

thanks.

Customization is a double edged sword.

Don't want the weapon stuck on one character, don't customize it.

Want the 20% damage bonus, then it can only be used by that one character.

Customization works perfecftly, don't change a thing.

i think its a good idea...but like with everything in life, due to my hyper-cynical nature, i tend to look towards potential side effects.
with this idea came one right off the bat.
already people occasionally delete pvp chars not realizing there was something on there important too them untill its too late (yes, this is their own fault, nevertheless its an issue). with this, people would risk losing their most prized posessions.
i have personally never lost anything eleting chars because i am very, very careful to look them over beforehand. however, this doesnt change the fact that many people have done it in the past and will do it in the future.

in support of it, it wouldnt be quite as bad if you were to remake a character, since you could inport your old items.
its also been my opinion that if you delete a character and remake it with the same name (on the account it existed on previously) it should be able to use its old equipment. i would say the same for the skills the character had captured, but i think leaving that part out would be motivation not to delete them unless absolutly necissary.

overall, id say this is /signed.

Why do you have more than 1 warrior for PvP?

The way I see it is, there aren't too many things that actually need to be customized except bows, spears, hammers, axex, swords and daggers. Each of these are pretty profession specific. (With the exception of melee on Rangers currently). There is no need for more than 1 type of character slot per profession.

Additionally, green weapons are perfect and extremely inexpensive.

That'd work as well.

With the addition of each chapter comes different looks for each profession. I know multiple people who've remade characters for what they felt was a better appearance. I don't really see a reason they need to lose all their previously customized weaponry because they felt like changing how their character looked.

If its account based it takes away the only minor disadvantage of customising.

Make an NPC like the festival hat NPC for uniques?

For it to work, the weapons you show him have to already be customised, so you cant just copy an uncostomised wep and sell it. The weapons can then be copied onto your other chars, as customised ones.

Doesnt work with offhands.

This would be nice, not so much for your own weapons, but for your heroes.

For this thought... you create a perfect PvP weapon (customized for the PvP character) and give it to your PvE characters for no cost. Re-roll the PvP character for more perfect weapons at no cost.

/signed. Honestly, the main debate you have with customizing a weapon (or not) is whether you can sell it to another player later. That is not impacted by the OP's suggestion.

I think this would help some of the storage issues that some players face, as they often have duplicate weapons among their characters that would be easily consolidated/eliminated.

Again, this would allow a loophole for every character to have free PvP level weapons jus tby creating and re-rolling. Probably not the intent, but a side effect.

Let me explain.

You have a nice weapon, now you have a choice. The game is made more interesting and involving (PvE view) with choices and consequences of our choices. How we develop ourselves and the environment around us.

Do you customize it, getting an additional 20% damage but unable to allow other characters to use it, and the long term to sell it it to another character.

Or do i think this weapon would be better on another character, in which case I can't customize it, or they will never be able to use it.

Now I have a Necromancer and a Ranger. Two separate characters. I built a touch Ranger just to see how it would play. I gathered up all my collectors weapons and a gold katana +5 en from a drop. If I customized them for the touch ranger, he would be more effective, not here to discuss the touch ranger skillbar or skill use.

I decided not to customize, that way when I play my necromancer, he can use the collectors weapons (since I did not customize and lost 20% extra damage). Additionally, my warrior can use the gold katana with his swordmanship build. These weapons are still not customized, in case I want to give the touch ranger another run, or someone in my guild wants/needs one of the items to actually improve their character.

You want the 20% extra damage without any consequences. And I feel that Anet is teaching you a better lesson by having repercussions for your choices. You will need those skills in your life.

If this idea were followed through, players would stop acquiring multiple weapons, and just customize them then pop them around all their characters. The economy would take a hit as less items are bought from other players, the spread in price from covetted to standard would increase into the millions.

And anet has always tried to incorporate balance into Guild Wars. Where is the balance in this idea.

Pro: I have +20% extra damage fropm this customized weapon. It now does an extra 35% when health over 50%.
Additional Pro: I can pop this bad boy arouind each of my characters, as needed.
Con: The only thing I can't do now with it is sell it.

Not balanced in my opinion.

Therefore:

/not signed (with my justification).
